A Breakthrough Venture: (re)building value in the lives of disabled people is a research project  funded by the Community Research Awards, Manchester Metropolitan University in collaboration with Breakthrough UK and Venture Arts

We are working with disabled people who live in Greater Manchester to ask what value means in their lives.

All the people in the research live independently in their local communities.  We ask what this costs in terms of the financial support packages that they receive to live independently but also what it costs in terms of how they live their every day lives.

All the participants in the study told us that they value living independently, that they have rich and fulfilling lives in their communities, but that there lives are difficult as they face low levels of support and uncertainty.
